Sorry for the title but I knew everyone would open it. I was just flipping through the channels and found an Episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels where our old buddy John Grogan was giving his usual follygraphs to Shannon Tweed and her sister in preparation for having Gene take one. Does anyone know how this came out? ------------------ Ex scientia veritas IP: Logged |

In one of the episodes, they do have Gene take a polygraph on Adam Carolla's radio talk show. It is a female examiner from California. I can't think of her name right now. Anyway, it was completely ridiculous and this female examiner would reveal whether he was telling the truth after each question asked. ------------------ "Truth Seekers" IP: Logged |

I'm betting it was Probably Lisa something or other, Grogan's Secretary who provides a front for his private investigations scams since he got his license revoked------------------ Ex scientia veritas IP: Logged |

Here is one of her websites. I think this may be the same person who got booted out of a CAPE meeting and later went to a legit school. http://www.lljpolygraph.com/ Ted IP: Logged |

The eight-week school taught by the secret service agent is probably the same one we talked about before (recently). It's not accredited or recognized by any of the national associations. If it's the guy I'm thinking of, it's the same one Jack Trimarco mentioned in his presentation on media issues. (He's the guy with the different colored lights instead of thumbs up or down. Jack said he was a nice guy who made a mistake, but others said he's still a mistake. I don't know.)IP: Logged |

It's the American College of Forensic Studies in Los Angeles. The examiner is Joseph Paolella, and he claims a lot of training and experience; however, he indicates no membership in any professional polygraph associations. His website is listed below. Not a Grogan - at least he has a classroom that isn't in a Chinese restaurant and a box. http://www.aaforensic.com/Programs.html IP: Logged |

That's the one. I talked to the president of the NPA (George Baranowski) regarding this school, and it is NOT approved by the NPA. They don't approve schools. Some people did get in to the NPA prior to its acceptance of ASTM standards as its standards. We discussed one such person here not too long ago I believe.IP: Logged |

There is a Joseph Paolella listed on the truthaboutgrogan website. It states that he is owner of Dr. Chris Gugas & Associates in Los Angeles, California. He lists being a member of the NPA and APA. IP: Logged |

It is my understanding that he is a federally trained examiner, so he could be a member of both. It's his school that people have problems with. It may be a great school, but it's shorter than the APA requires, and it's not NPA approved. To say it is NPA approved is troubling to me.IP: Logged |

His resume at his own website does not indicate that he graduated from any government polygraph school which would have been USAMPS or early DODPI. He does indicate "attendance" but not graduation from the Reid College, the Dick Arthur School (which would seem to me that he does not know the name of this school he "attended" (The National Training Center of Polygraph Science - and he does not spell ROA's name correctly -"Arther," which may or may not have been accredited by APA at the time and may have been recognized by AAPP at the time) and he also lists "attendance" at the Los Angeles INstitute of Polygraph which failed accreditation attempts several times. All may have been "attended" after he left government service since the Secret Service School and U.S> Treasury School are likley agent training schools for those particular positions - not polygraph training schools. The Chris Gugas link does indicate membership in APA, Illinois PG Society, and CAPE - which may have been true at the time, but he does not list them on his current website. Also, he does not list graduation from any government polygraph school polygraph school on the Gugas Website. I would make me conclude that he was not a Secret Service Examiner based upon the two websites where he lists his qualifications. He does not list that he actually graduated from any polygraph school. Maybe he is just a more clever and sophisticated version of Grogan - and just as dangerous since he is liklely putting under-trained and incompetent examiners out of the street to "Serve" the public. I thought Jack Trimarco said he was a properly trained examiner who got caught up in the "circus" of a TV show (the one with the red light / green light instead of thumbs up or thumbs down). I may have got the school part wrong - and probably did if he himself doesn't list graduating from the federal school.IP: Logged |
